Crystal Palace will be hoping to pick up where they left off under Roy Hodgson in the new Premier League season after an impressive end to last season under the 75-year-old veteran. Who will their rivals and hottest matches in Premier League 2023-2024?
The Eagles will kick off the 23/24 season against newly promoted Sheffield United on Saturday, August 12th, before welcoming Arsenal to Selhurst Park on Saturday, August 19th.
The month concludes with another London derby, this time away at Brentford (Saturday, August 26th), before a September that includes home games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham, as well as away games against Aston Villa and Manchester United, either side of an international break.
On Saturday, May 11th, Palace will play their final away game of the season at Wolves. The Eagles will then finish their 2023/24 season at home against Aston Villa the following Sunday (19th May, when all 20 Premier League teams kick off at 16:00 BST).
Once again, no club will be asked to play with less than 48 hours between matches during the Christmas and New Year holidays, with travel intentionally reduced between the 23rd and 30th of December.
During this time, Palace will play two home games at Selhurst Park, against Brighton & Hove Albion (Saturday, December 23rd) and Brentford (Saturday, December 30th), and one away, at Chelsea on Boxing Day (Tuesday, December 26th).
It is also worth noting that fixtures may be moved from Saturday to Sunday due to our opponents’ participation in European competition: this could apply to our home game against Tottenham Hotspur (currently scheduled for Saturday, 28th October) or away game against West Ham United (currently scheduled for Saturday, 2nd December).

Crystal Palace appeared to be in danger of relegation when the club parted ways with Patrick Vieira in March after a run of 11 Premier League games without a win, but the return of former manager Roy Hodgson resulted in a significant improvement in fortunes.
After managing the club for four years between 2017 and 2021, Hodgson’s appointment restored a sense of stability and calm at Selhurst Park, with the Eagles losing just two of their final ten league matches with the former England manager at the helm.
Hodgson was able to free Palace’s most gifted creative talents, most notably Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, with the South London club scoring 18 goals in their last two games.
The below table illustrates Crystal Palace’s league finishes over the past five seasons:
Roy Hodgson, now 75 years old and the oldest manager in Premier League history, signed a one-year contract this summer after leading Crystal Palace to Premier League success after taking over on an interim basis in March.
With a wealth of experience managing across four decades in countries all over Europe, Hodgson was able to get the best out of Palace’s star attacking players, Eze and Olise, who registered 13 goal contributions between them in the final ten games of last season.
The former Inter and Liverpool manager has openly acknowledged Palace’s attacking midfielders’ technical brilliance as a key strength of the squad at his disposal, and that instilling confidence in them is essential.
Although Hodgson’s appointment this summer is hardly forward-thinking, it provides Palace with a secure stop-gap while the club’s hierarchy led by chairman Steve Parish considers a long-term successor in line with their vision and goals.

James McArthur (End of contract)
The manner in which Palace finished last season will have given the club’s ardent fanbase hope for the new season, and potentially challenging for a top-half finish in the Premier League for only the second time in 11 seasons, but their first goal will be to avoid relegation danger, which they flirted with last season.
Palace’s expectations for the new season will also be heavily influenced by Wilfried Zaha’s future, with the talismanic figure weighing his options after his contract at Selhurst Park expired this summer after eight years of service.
